What do New Zealand television presenter Susan Wood and Philadelphia Eagles Wide Receiver Terrell Owens have in common? Both want their bonuses counted in their regular salary. In this morning’s Dom Post there is a new front-page article about Susan Wood’s battle with TVNZ. The article says that when Wood took over Paul Holmes’ role she negotiated an extra $100,000 in case the show failed. The show did well, Susan got $450,000 and then the next year rolled around. The extra $100,000 can be seen as a “signing bonus”. This might all turn to custard so here is a big lump sum to make it worth your while signing the contract.
Like Terrell Owens (who this season complained of a big pay cut because all of his bonuses were paid as a lump sum at the start of his contract), Susan Wood doesn’t seem to understand that she won’t be getting the $100,000 because the show was a success. If the show hadn’t been a success she would be getting $0 and hefty boot in the arse.
Just to get that taste of bile well settled in your mouth Wood has also claimed that she is worth more than $450,000, but if she took the $350,000 on offer she would still be TVNZ's highest paid presenter.
